Gun Bills Update

Dear Friends,

Over the past several weeks I have received thousands of calls and emails regarding the gun legislation that is being proposed this year in Colorado. I want to thank you personally for contacting me to let me know your position on this issue.

The resounding themes in the emails included:

  • support for the right to keep and bear arms as granted by both our federal and state constitutions;
  • the ability to defend both you and your loved ones from future harm;
  • the illusion of gun-free zones;
  • a woman ought to have the choice of how to protect her own body from harm;
  • veteran’s concern that the freedoms they fought to protect are being infringed on by government;
  • all citizens should have the ability to protect our Republic from tyranny as the 2nd Amendment clearly states;
  • fear of losing the ability to continue lifelong hobbies and sport interests;
  • law-abiding citizens being made criminals for exercising their 2nd Amendment rights;
  • the concern for a long-term negative impact on the Colorado economy.

Without a doubt, I can assure you that I will always fight to uphold your 2ndAmendment Rights. I will never advocate for criminals by taking away the rights of law abiding gun owners.

My bill SB13-140 – No Federal Laws Concerning Colorado Firearms (co-sponsored with Rep. Lori Saine) will nullify any and all federal gun control efforts if passed. This bill was scheduled to be heard on February 13th, but without notice or reason, it was pulled from the calendar and has not been rescheduled.

I will continue to send out periodic newsletters. Please visit Colorado Senate News if you would like more updates and information.
