Magazine Bill Passes
March 9th, 2013
Yesterday, the Senate passed House Bill 1224 on second reading by a voice vote pushing Magpul, one of the largest manufacturers in the state, one step closer to shutting their doors and the loss of over 600 jobs.
“The Democrats’ reckless disregard for the working families of Magpul and the second amendment rights of Coloradans is disturbing,” said Senator Scott Renfroe (R-Greeley). “To watch over 600 people lose their jobs and possibly their homes because of an ideological crusade that will do nothing to improve public safety is sickening and hurtful to the people of Colorado. Governor, veto this bill”
“Tonight, the Democrat promise to focus on ‘jobs, jobs, jobs’ disintegrated into dust,” said Senator Vicki Marble (R-Fort Collins). “Instead of owing a debt of gratitude to Magpul and companies like them that provide jobs to our families, and revenues to our schools and communities, our opponents forced them to leave town in the name of public safety that this bill fails to provide.”
Magpul spent over $46 million in Colorado in 2012. In 2013, Magpul is expected to spend $85 million in the state.
